Welcome to the DFWSD Midseason Sourcebook!
Over the last 15 years, we have been proud to create excellent resources for the speech and debate community. We’ve produced a sourcebook that has become a quintessential resource for debaters, but we’re not satisfied. Last year, we released our first ever midseason edition. We were extremely happy about the quality of the resource… but we can do better. I’d like to introduce you to our new approach to midseason material!
What am I buying?
You are buying a subscription to briefs released monthly throughout the Spring. Subscribers will receive two 1ACs with negative briefs on the first of each month up until nationals. We’ll provide a bonus brief prior to nationals, meaning you’ll receive a total of 11 1ACs and negative briefs prior to nationals.
Why release this monthly? Why not all at once?
Monthly releases allow for several benefits. First, YOU can tell us what cases you would like briefed! We encourage you to reach out via instagram, facebook, or the contact-us page on the website and let us know what materials you’d like included. We’ll cover the ones popularly demanded! Second, it allows us to release relevant information throughout the Spring. You won’t be getting the best as we understand it in January, you’ll be getting our best work as we continue to grow and learn as a writing staff throughout the Spring.
Why 1AC’s and negatives? Why not include a backup?
At this point in the year, most teams have decided on their affirmative cases. Providing a solid 1AC gives teams looking to switch cases a springboard, but that’s not the focus. Instead, we are providing 1AC’s so negative prep can start with a better understanding of a case you may never have seen before! You cannot prep what you do not know… so we’ll provide a snapshot of the affirmative case alongside our best research to defeat it.
How will I receive the monthly additions?
Purchasing the subscription will send you an immediate download link to all currently published materials. All future month’s materials will be sent via email on the first of each month (unless the first lands on a weekend, in which case the materials will be sent on the next available business day).
What’s in the first batch you’re releasing?
Banning informal agreements and banning pushbacks!
