Welcome to the brand new DFW Speech and Debate Blog! We are so excited to begin creating and sharing weekly content that will help you grow as a debater.

You might be asking… why now?

Over the past several years DFW has been brainstorming ways to increase accessibility for our students. Our coaching team and leadership wants the opportunity to connect with our community consistently. It’s time to take the plunge and make this happen for you.

We are in the process of building a stellar team of alumni and student writers to bring you continuous, engaging, thought provoking, and educational content. As a reader of the DFW Speech and Debate Blog, you can expect diversity and depth of content. From public speaking 101 to the intricacies of policy and value debate, we’ll cover speech and debate alike. Trust me, you’ll love what you see! If you want a question answered or a topic addressed, shoot us an email about what’s missing and we’ll fill the gap.

We’ll be sticking to a few themes so that you can decide what your favorite content is and follow along with those themes. Here’s a sneak a peek:

DFWSD Blog Themes:

  • Theory and Strategy

  • Resolution Analysis

  • Tips and Tools

  • Communication Training

  • Mindset

  • Leadership

As always, DFW has the highest standard for content and writing. Every article posted on our blog will be vetted and reviewed by several members on our team to ensure that you are always receiving the best content.

We’re excited about the high level content we’re bringing to the table, but we’re even more excited about the team and community we’re building along the way. If you want to be a part of this team, applications for our Content Creation Internship are still open for a limited time. This internship will challenge you and encourage you. It will give you the opportunity to pour into others and give back to your community. Plus, you’ll receive free writing feedback from the one and only James Russell, Director of DFWSD, to help you grow as a writer. You’ll get a title for your resume and you’ll be added to our website as part of our elite team.

We’re looking for students and alumni who are passionate about writing, can stick to a deadline, respond well to feedback, and feel like they have something to offer to our audience. If you think this is you, don’t hesitate to fill out an application and start the process today.

We’re opening a new chapter of DFW Speech and Debate and we’re so thrilled that this blog is just the beginning. This is going to be a great year for our students, our coaches, and our community.  We hope you’re just as excited as we are.
