SOURCEBOOK ANNOUNCEMENT
The traditional sourcebook game has reflected the same process for nearly two decades: receive the resolution in the early summer and rush to publish a preseason sourcebook by late summer. The result is consistent: content is only as good as the editorial team is stressed.
No matter how stressed sourcebook teams get, quality standards in such a tight two-month window are challenging. No matter how many revisions a sourcebook goes through, we always find additional issues after publication. Worse, as the year goes on, the research done at summer’s beginning slowly becomes less relevant as debaters adapt.
Some companies, including ours, addressed the problem by publishing midseason sourcebooks. Unfortunately, midseason publications don’t help fix the preseason edition you invested in. The preseason still needs revision to clean up grammar, fix citations, and prevent declining relevancy.
This year, we’re changing the dynamic.
For the first time, DFW’s editorial team has committed to updating our sourcebook on a monthly basis. We will offer different tiers for the needs of our different customers. Each tier includes a longer period of time for which our editorial team will service your purchase.
For debaters who want the same type of product they’ve always received, the silver tier is a one-and-done purchase on September 1st with no updates throughout the year. For debaters who want to experience a continually relevant sourcebook throughout the year, the platinum tier provides year-round support and cutting-edge research additions. And for debaters who want to try something comfortably in the middle, the gold tier provides updates and additions throughout the Fall in preparation for the Spring competition season.
Silver Tier $29.99
Old reliable. The silver tier will include 8 cases cases ready for purchase September 1st. The silver tier allows students an immediate jump-start to the year with cases written by our expert editorial team. The silver tier is a great starting point for new debaters who want to sink their teeth into the new resolution with a manageable but powerful resource.
The silver tier does not include additional cases or updated material throughout the Fall and Spring.

Gold Tier $49.99
The new wave. The gold tier will include 8 cases cases ready for purchase September 1st. The gold tier will also include one additional case and negative brief released monthly until December 31st, totaling 12 cases. Our expert editorial team will release updates to the sourcebook on a monthly basis until. December 31st, meaning your sourcebook will grow and adapt as the resolution is investigated throughout the Fall.
The gold tier does not include additional cases or updated material throughout the Spring.

Platinum Tier $74.99
The championship primer. The platinum tier will include 8 cases ready for purchase September 1st. The platinum tier will also include one additional case and negative brief released monthly until December 31st, bringing the sourcebook to 12 cases. The platinum tier will also include two negative briefs released monthly from January to June for an additional 12 standalone negative briefs targeting the toughest cases around the nation. Our expert editorial team will release updates to sourcebook content on a monthly basis throughout the year.
